GTL :
The process of staying fresh and mint. Stands for "Gym, tan, laundry." Must be done everyday to achieve maximum potential. Side effects include fist pumping. Coined by the eloquent Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino from MTV's ground breaking Jersey Shore.
You gotta GTL everyday to make sure you're looking your best bro. If your shirt looks bad it makes the whole product look bad -urbandictionary.com
I know at time's I've become out of touch with t.v.'s "hottest shows" (hell i jus saw my first episode of "Glee" a few weeks ago... twas' awesome), but really I think there's a big lack in the amount of "quality" t.v. shows to watch now a days. But that's prolly just me. Now I will admit I am a fan of shows/channels like Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Mythbusters, and pretty much anything on the DIY, History, and Foodnetwork channel, but one channel I avoid like a belligerent drunk at a party or club is MTV.
The MTV of 10-12 years to go is nothing in comparison of the MTV of today. They actually played more music ON mtv than t.v. shows. But I digress, money makes the world go round right? And at the cost of chasing that paper trail it' seems the quality of t.v. on one of my once favorite channels has gone from the shit to just... shit. No offense, to those who like this kind of programing, but really... lets stay friends and not argue for the sake of staying civil about how great they are. Which brings me to my point.
How did I find out about Jersey Shore? A friend told me about it and what it was about... meh... i brushed it off. How did I find out about the saying GTL? When some oompaloompa colored guido fuck was bragging about how much he GTL's and how "pimp" it is to do so while I was at the gym. I know its one thing to emulate things we see on t.v. at times for trends, catch phrases, and what ever else you may cause hey... it worked for them, WHY THE HELL NOT FOR US right? I could understand that for a few shows like the channels I listed above but from Jersy Shore?
Really? Gyming, tanning, and of all things in the world LAUNDRY is the key to success in business, life, and sex? It's one thing to poke fun at it but it's another to take the words in to heart as if it were the bible.
To those who GTL whole heartedly...
...GTFO :D
that stands for get the fuck out for those who dunno that :)

Dear MANology,
ReplyDeleteWhile I know I wouldn't ever take GTL in its literal sense (who does laundry every day? Why would I tan every day? Gym, ok, yeah, I would try) but in a more general sense it can motivate ppl to be the best they can be, take care of themselves. I'd probably add "eat a well-balanced diet" to that, but that would probably mess up the cool-sounding "GTL". Hahaha.
And I'm with ya, MTV ain't like it used to be. It stands for Music Television after all ...
